At the core of this story are Max and Lloyd—two creators with big dreams and limited means. They record themselves chatting about art, life, and the movies they love. When Max receives a generous cash gift from his mom for Christmas, they get more ambitious and try to make their own movie. They hire a fiery director to bring it all to life that includes a large ensemble of skilled actors. They hire a professional crew to ensure crisp images and clear sound. But little do they know it’s the beginning of the end. The reality is they’re building sets on a shoestring budget, testing equipment between takes, and improvising solutions when things go off-script. By embracing both the neatly orchestrated and the messily improvised, they end up with a film that’s honest, heartfelt, and entirely its own kind of perfect. Oh yeah, and there’s an AI twist they didn’t quite expect.
